See How It Works

Built by Nick and Heather, a married couple of 21 years who each lost over 100 pounds by planning their weeks instead of living in a tracker.

The problem

Tracking tells you what happened after it's too late.

Tracker apps ask you to rebuild your day one meal at a time. What did you eat? How much was it? What's left? It can feel like a part-time job.

By the time the app gives you the verdict, the day is mostly over. That is how dinner becomes protein powder and lettuce.

Most people who succeed long-term eventually invent the same solution: plan the day before it starts, repeat meals that work, and prep ahead of time.

That is not tracking. That is planning.

CaloriePlanning turns that real-world workflow into a planning system.

Create meal plans. Schedule the week. Check your day against the plan instead of reconstructing it at bedtime.

How it works

Set your targets. Build your plans. Run the week.

1

Set your targets.

Our onboarding calculator helps you establish baseline targets for a cut, maintenance, or bulk. Adjust the numbers if you already know what works for you. You're in control.

2

Build your plans.

Turn your real foods into reusable meals. Use your saved meals and individual foods to create full-day meal plans. Calories and macros stack against your targets as you build, so you can dial in the day before it happens without changing your saved meals.

3

Run the week.

Put your meal plans on a repeating schedule. Each morning, the Today view shows exactly what you planned to eat. When life happens, swap in a different plan for today without breaking your repeating schedule.

Features

Everything you need to plan your week before it starts.

Build full-day meal plans, schedule them into repeating weeks, and use Today to stay aligned without turning every meal into a logging session.

Foods & Meals

Real food. Reusable meals.

Your library holds the foods you actually buy, prep, and eat. Start with optional preset whole-food entries, add your own staples, and group foods into reusable meals you can use across every plan.

No crowdsourced database full of duplicate entries and questionable numbers. A small library you trust beats a giant one you have to second-guess.

Plans

Build the day before it happens.

A plan is a full day of eating built in advance: your meals, your portions, and your numbers. As you build, calories and macros stack against your targets so you can dial in the day before it starts.

Duplicate and adjust plans to create variations for training days, rest days, high days, different phases, or anything else you need.

Schedule

Set your week. Let it repeat.

Assign plans to weekdays and let the schedule repeat automatically. Run the same plans every week, or use alternating weeks to rotate menus, cycle calories, and avoid meal fatigue.

Today

Know what to eat before the day starts.

Today shows the assigned plan with every meal and every portion already mapped against your targets.

Instead of logging from memory at night, you follow the plan you already built.

Progress

See whether the plan is working.

Log your weight and measurements, then watch the trend over time. When the data says it is time to adjust, update your targets and keep moving.

Planning keeps your weeks consistent. Progress shows whether those weeks are compounding into results.

On purpose

Why we didn't build a barcode scanner.

We didn't forget. We chose not to.

Barcode scanners are useful when the job is logging what just happened. Grab something, scan it, add it to the day, and see what is left.

That is a tracking workflow.

CaloriePlanning is built for a different loop: decide in advance, build meals you trust, schedule the week, and eat without doing math at every meal.

Your food library should be small, clean, and reusable. Not a five-million-item database full of duplicate entries you have to audit every time you eat.

The barcode scanner is not a missing feature. It is the behavior we are helping you move past.

Founder story

Built by two people still doing the work.

Heather and I have each lost 100+ pounds without tracking calories throughout the day. But it didn't happen in a straight line.

At first, our meal planning skills weren't good. We would try to eat the same boring chicken, rice, and broccoli meal plan every day and then burn out.

We built spreadsheets to add variety to our plans, but they became a nightmare to maintain. Every time we wanted to try something new, it turned into a weekend project.

We've known for many years that we wanted to create a better system for people like us who want to plan their meals ahead of time to lose fat, build muscle, and stay consistent.

CaloriePlanning is that system.

CaloriePlanning has removed the anxiety we used to feel about what to eat and given us a repeatable workflow for achieving our body recomposition goals.

We love coming up with new ways to add variety to our meal plans, and now CaloriePlanning makes it simple and fun to do.

We use CaloriePlanning every day, and we're not done working toward our goals.

We're not bodybuilders, fitness gurus, or nutrition coaches.

We're not shouting at you from the finish line. We're just holding the door open behind us.

We are two people in love who figured out what works for us, and we hope it works for you too.

FAQ

Questions before you plan?

Isn't this just another calorie tracker?

No. A tracker records what already happened. CaloriePlanning helps you decide what will happen before the day starts. You build meal plans in advance, schedule them into repeating weeks, and use Today to follow the plan instead of reconstructing your food from memory at night.

Why isn't there a barcode scanner?

Because barcode scanning belongs to the tracking workflow. It is useful when the job is logging what just happened. CaloriePlanning is built for a different loop: build a small food library you trust, turn those foods into reusable meals, and plan your week before you eat it.

What happens when my day doesn't go to plan?

You adjust and move on. Swap in a different plan for a specific day without breaking your repeating schedule. After that day, your normal schedule resumes.

How is this different from MacroFactor or MyFitnessPal?

MacroFactor and MyFitnessPal are trackers. Good ones, if tracking is the workflow you want. CaloriePlanning is for people who already understand calories and macros but want to stop logging every bite throughout the day. You set targets, build plans that hit them, and run those plans on a weekly schedule.

Where do my calorie and macro targets come from?

CaloriePlanning uses standard energy-expenditure equations to estimate your maintenance calories, then creates starting targets for a cut, maintenance, or bulk. You can adjust the numbers if you already know what works for you. No black box. No quiet algorithm changing your targets behind the scenes.

Do you tell me what to eat?

No. There are no generic meal plans and no algorithm-generated menus. You build plans from the foods and meals you actually eat. CaloriePlanning gives you structure, targets, and feedback while you build. You stay in control of the food.

How does founding member pricing work?

CaloriePlanning is free to try for 14 days. When you subscribe, the first 100 paid subscribers can lock in founding member pricing: $4.49/month or $34.99/year. Your founding rate stays locked for as long as your subscription remains active. Future pricing will be higher after the founding spots are gone.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new account gets 14 days of full access with no credit card required. Build your targets, create your plans, run the schedule, and decide whether CaloriePlanning belongs in your routine.

Who is CaloriePlanning not for?

If you want a barcode scanner and a giant food database, a tracker will probably serve you better. If you are against working with calories at all, this is not your tool. And if you are recovering from disordered eating, structured calorie planning may not be appropriate; professional guidance should come first. CaloriePlanning is for adults 18 and over.

Your next week is plannable.
